Should you ever get confused trying to explain the difference between Republicans and Democrats to your family, there are some basic differences to keep in mind.? Take family members with you to vote in our primaries. This seems like a good idea, and not only that but everyone on Instagram does it. 🙂 Whether registered as other party or not, they can learn "how the other half votes". TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT On the way home, my relatives harranged, razzed and barraged me with all types of questions. “Joe, who did you vote for? Why? What do the other guys do that you don’t like?” etc. etc. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Although I consider myself well-infomed, but I found myself a little tongue-tied and confused trying to explain Republicans vs. Democrats to the variety of family members. I won't excuse myself of not having pondered all the aspects because I was busy driving, etc. It made me think, what if other people need a few pointers, Ralph Waldo Emison (paraphrased) said "Everybody knows something I don't, in that I learn of him. Others have to feel that way, too, or at least keep an open mind to pick up a point of two. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Whenever I am confused about politics, I visit to my cousin Sam. Hiseducation and credentials are impressive – Political Science major, law degree, former prosecutor. Most people have no idea that the law requires so much study and time but Sam is also prudent and wise in his years. What if my parents’ beliefs are incorrect? Of course, every teen at one point of other - feels that mom and dad are "square" and just don't understand" , etc. Realizing that the times-are a-changing - what does being a Republican or Democrat really mean these days? I appreciate his wise words, and how he has attempted to remain as unbiased as possible while describing the differences. Today’s political cycle is even more confusing than most especially for people who can recall "the way we were." But anything that confuses people in general is sure to raise questions in just about anybody. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT As news of politics drifts down into the news, many people are asking questions about the two major political parties and what all the arguing means. This year’s political cycle is more emotionally charged than most years. Those emotions can make it difficult for "looked-up-to" people to fairly explain political differences in shirt-sleeve-English. Heaven knows, as an avid sports fan, I could not objectively describe the rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT As a public service, this is my opus to distill the differences between the parties into fair terms that ordinary people can understand.(And perhaps a few extraordinary people as well!) TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT To keep the football analogy alive, the two parties are like the American and the National Leagues in football. If you have a sports fan in your beighborhood, perhaps this analogy might be of some assistance. In politics, the primaries are like the early playoff rounds. The parties will pick their winner like the American and National Leagues pick theirs. In football, the league winners play in the Bowl Games. In politics, the primary winners will run and oppose each other in the general election. The winner of the general election becomes President of the United States. History has revealed that an extraordinary person can "jump ahead" of the Establishment and "players who have been in the game longer as evidenced by Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama. People may disagree about WHO really is extraordinary but no one can deny that these two and others are/were extraordinary and were able to short-circuit and shelve so to speak - the Establishments idea of who's next - who's turn is it? In 2008, Hillary Clinton had awaited her "turn" only to be outdone by someone her party considered superior. Likewise, in 1980 the Establishment Republicans had stymied an upstart from California who had been Governor in 1977 but there was no keeping him down. That perseverance and gumption and stick-to-it-ness - won Reagan the nomination and later the Presidency in 1980. Only in a Constitutional Republic like the United States can an extraordinary individual rise through the ranks and fast-track himself/herself - to greatness. Sometimes love and understanding and TRUTH can overcome fear and loathing and LIES so that the RIGHT people eventually WIN. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT To put it into non-sports words, here’s another take on it, in case people who need to know aren’t all that familiar with the language of football. 🙂 Imagine that the men and the women in a group wanted to see who was the best at doing something. The males would have a contest to select their very best guy. That’s similar to the primary. And then all the females would choose their best gal. And then everyone in the group would choose between the best guy, and the best gal. The winner over all is like the President. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Back to our football analogy. In football, there are differences between the "leagues". One league has a designated quarterback to call the plays and run the team and considers the lineup from the players group “variable.” The other league does not. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT There are also several basic differences between the political parties. Because politicians are human individuals, it is impossible to speak in absolutes. Thus the differences described can only be basic generalities. These differences are also based on the modern era of the parties (which start with Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neil). TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT The Role Of the Federal (Washington, DC) Government TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Discussed in the most general terms, the biggest difference between the parties is from the viewpoint of the proper role of government. The Republican party generally holds forth and believes that it is the responsibility of individuals and communities to take care of people in dire need. The Democratic party generally believes that the government should take care of people, with or without needs that are super important, and assumes that they know best what people need. In general, the Republican party believes that if government needs to do a job then it is best for the local governments like cities and counties to make those decisions. The Democratic party believes that the federal government has more power and endless resources through taxes and being dominant and elite and better educated and is therefore in a better position to do those jobs. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Practical example for an average person: There are a lot of people who don’t have enough to eat. Republicans believe that people like you and me should help them, and our churches and charities should help them. The Democrats believe that the government needs to spend its tax money and even money borrowed - to help provide them with food. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT But What Should Laws Be Based On? TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT In terms of making laws about what is right and wrong, Republicans are generally more comfortable making laws about families and children based on what is written in religious books and the U.S. Constitution. Democrats believe that it is not appropriate for government to interfere with people’s choices about families and children and that people should disregard religious books and the U.S. Constitution. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Practical example for an average person: If a person is mature and understanding and open minded enough, this is a good opportunity to appropriately introduce a concept such as of abortion and/or gay marriage. This is an individual judgement call. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT The Political Parties Differ As to HOW to Deal With Greedy Businesses like gas stations charging double because people have gassed up EVERYTHING and gas is going to get scarcer from the high demand. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Republicans believe that when businesses are tempted to be greedy then the customers will keep that greed in check by not buying, etc. Democrats believe that the government should step in to stop businesses from being "greedy" according to what they consider to be over-charging. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Political Parties Disagree on How To Avoid Wars TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT One of the most important duties that a President has is to decide when the USA goes to war or stay in one that is ongoing when the new President steps in. Neither party wants America to fight and lose people and property in wars. Most Republicans believe that the best way to stay out of wars is to have a strong army that encourages other countries to think twice before attacking the USA and be afraid to fight and confront our alerted forces. Most Democrats believe that the best way to stay out of wars is to be cooperative, disarm even if they don't, give them tribute or money if need be - and not intimidate other countries even if they try to bully. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Political Parties Differ on How to Choose Judges TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Another critically important duty of the President is to pick Supreme Court justices. Traditionally, Republicans believe that Supreme Court justices should make their decisions based on what the founding fathers originally wrote in the Constitution. Democrats tend to believe that Supreme Court justices should make decisions based on thinking that the U.S. Constitution being outdated and outmoded and old-fashioned values and virtues they think is right or wrong for our country now in modern times. Neither party is the House of David with leadership and wisdom from "on high", and most people in both parties do truly want to what is best for our nation, they just have different ideas about how to accomplish this. Tarnished Reputation Ninth Court Called "Circus Court" by Multiplied Millions and Proud of it, apparently. Like the famous motorcycle gang, the 9th is known the world over. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Did this contribute to demise of Ringling Brothers/Barnum and Bailey Circuses? Has their probable backing by "Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics" (C.O.Y.O.T.E.) the pro-sex worker advocates - served to earn the 9th Circus - even more ill repute? Does Comedy News National (CNN) think the 9th Circuit Court is,"Wild", "Unhinged" or "Off the Rails"? After all, it was Obama himself who chose the seven Muslim countries for the so-called- Muslim ban. The ban also calls for extreme vetting of the known Christians/Animists in South Sudan as well as non-Muslims in these seven countries. The liberal President Jimmy Carter appointed many 9th Circuit Courters in the 1970s, and Clinton and Obama added their "Baddest" or "Worst" perhaps inspired by Judge Ruth "BADER" Ginsburg. Many of their "disents" have seeming chronicled the Court's "descent" into liberality and their "anything goes-ism" that has "set aside" the voters' Proposition 12 to allow that "decadence" that has made them "notorious". TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT In fact, the most correct adjective attached to the 9th Circuit Court is "NOTORIOUS" since they seem to "own" the word. The "Notorious BIG" tried to ursurp their ownership and succeeded until his untimely demise which seemed to transfer SOME of that "notoriety" to RBG AKA Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Presidential candidate John F. McCain even used her notoriety to lose the critical 5 million or so votes that kept him out of the "hotseat known as the White House". The unambitious Senator from Arizona "forgot" that another 90 PLUS "punks" like himself in the Senate voted like they had been "drinking something"- for RBG. That "no-good-punks" was a sobrequet left-handed complement from none other than then-Senator-and-future-POTUS (President)Barry Obama himself at the Al Smith Memorial Bar-B-Q Roast Cookoff and Dinner in 2008. The three heard arguments by conference call over phones on February 7 or February 14, 2017, on whether to maintain a temporary restraining order issued by Seattle U.S. District Judge James L. Robart that blocked enforcement of the travel ban concerning seven majority-Muslim nations selected by Obama himself many months ago for PERMANENT exclusion NOT the temporary put forth by President Trump. Linsay Graham and Karl Rove, who regularly appear on Fox to trash Trump - slyly, and deviously - of course. can't be OBVIOUS, it's FOX which pretends to like Trump most of the time when not bashing him like MSNBC and CNN. March 23, 2010 is a day that will live in ill repute which has been rued and cursed about daily in America. What has caused all this "potty-mouth-ism"? A 2010 Congress of ill repute filled with many Democrat and RINO GOP punks, making legislation of ill repute FOR a President who is proud to be counted among the top whatevers held in "ill repute" in the United States. On this accursed day in history President Obama should have VETOED Obamacare but lacked the decency so signed it into law. Obama and other Democrats had been wanting to do this to Americans for many years. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Hillary Clinton had held many secret meetings with insurance companies succeeding in closed-door meetings what she could not accomplish. Her Hillary care failed miserably BUT left a legacy of Managed Care that has dragged US health care down by degrees. It is widely held that it was Hillary Clinton who told insurance providers,"Why cover expensive drugs? Just declare them experimental after ONE prescription and never pay them again." And so they do just that. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Between Hillary and the other lawyers like Edwards who waxed wealthy suing doctors, doctors began to x-ray broken bones and prescribe painkillers instead of MENDING the bones. Some people say doctors were never that concerned with fingers and toes but that is not true unless being a TOUGH person, you did forgo getting the broken bones "set". Although the law has been declared unconstitutional by several courts and constitutional by a couple of courts, the US Supreme Court represented by "Justice" Roberts decided "out-of-the-clear-blue-sky" and in a state of SOBRIETY that Obamacare was a TAX. Of course, this TRAVESTY HAS BEEN VERY TAXING on the patience and financial status of the "haves" who are providing free and low-cost healthcare for illegal aliens, persons with no urge to work for a living, and assorted other people. Perhaps what is MOST DISGUSTING is the fact that certain religions, even one adjudged to be a DEATH CULT -- can get the benefits BUT NOT PAY anything no matter how wealthy they are. The Obama administration, in the knowledge that Obamacare is probably unconstitutional, delayed the inevitable by delaying the appeals in any way possible. Then the Supreme Court made a decision deemed irrational by perhaps 338,000,000 people. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Among failed government healthcare plans was that of Hawaii, and Massachusetts. Mitt Romney had carpetbagged to Massachusetts in order to acquire that "special odor" that government healthcare advocates fairly REEK OF, it being a STENCH to normal people who do not desire the harmful effects of rampant socialism. Then the GOP Establishment sensing the silent majorities' fundamental disunity decided that since no persons of high caliber were running for president in 2012, that they would stuff Romney down Americans collective throats even though the man had trashed his reputation so badly with Romney care that the liberals in Massachusetts rejected him for an INCUMBENT GOVERNOR. The FIEND actually tried to get Massachusetts' pathetic and expensive healthcare FOISTED on the samall percentage who had ESCAPED IT. Naturally, Romney fared even MORE BADLY than had the erstwhile foot-shooting John F. McCain. Apparently the "F" McCain had been awarded stood for "foot-shooting" because not only did his running mate bring a whopping 6 electoral votes but McCain himself publicaly and quite loudly declared his admiration for perhaps the most notorious Supreme Court "Justice" that ever lived, none other than Ruth (Gotta Be So Much) Bader Ginsberg. McCain might as well have endorsed Adolf F. Hitler as "The Man of the Century". As much as people opposed Obama getting elected, McCain had FOOT-SHOT his way to the LOSS he has CRAVENLY craved all along.
